All teams are enrolled in a free Eskwelabs 3-day learning sprint

Module 1: Human-Centered Design + Market Research
Teams define their problem space using design thinking, AI-assisted research, and synthetic user personas.

Module 2: Solution Blueprint + AI Architecture
Teams design their solution architecture and map out implementation using tools like PRDs, vibe coders, and sprint boards.

Module 3: Performance Evaluation + Storytelling
Teams finalize their solutions by creating visual dashboards, developing pitches, and presenting with executive clarity.

The Hackathon

The Hackathon is a synchronous, hybrid work sprint where teams step away from distraction to collaborate on their prototype, validate assumptions, and bring their ideas to life. Hosted on Zoom and on-site at AIM Conference Center, the day includes two lightning workshops: one on project grit and completion, and another on storytelling and public speaking.

The Summit

Hosted on September 26, 2025 at SPACE, One Ayala, the Summit is the culminating showcase of the entire BPI DATA Wave journey. Finalist teams present their solutions live on stage, receive feedback from judges, and compete for the top awards.

No, registration is free for all participants.

What are the key dates I should be aware of?

The Calendar contains all the key dates to remember, but to reiterate: June 30-July 10, July 3 (6-7pm), July 11, 2025 (6-9 PM), July 15, July 21 (6-7pm), July 22 (6-9 PM), July 31, August 7 (6-8pm), August 8 (6-9 PM), August 14 (6-8pm), August 25, September 1-4, September 26.

Where will the hackathon and summit be held?

The hackathon will be at the AIM Conference Center in Makati, and the summit will be at SPACE One Ayala.

What are the prizes for the competition?

Prizes range from Php 10,000 to Php 100,000 depending on rank, whether first, second, or third place.

Can I participate if I’m not based in Metro Manila?

Yes! For the Connection Events, they will be held in Zoom. For the Learning Sprint training sessions, they will be held in Zoom. The hackathon has an onsite venue at AIM Conference Center and on the same day, it has an online venue in Zoom. The Summit on September 26 is the only fully onsite event.
Applicable for finalists: For those who are not based in Metro Manila, travel and accommodations will be arranged for the top teams presenting at the Summit.

What tracks are available in the competition?

How many people can be on a team?

Teams can consist of 2 to 4 members.

Can I enter as an individual and then get matched to a team?

No, registration between the registration period of June 30 to July 10 must be by fully formed team already. One registration per team.

What if one of our team members drops out at some point during the DATA Wave journey?

You are still considered as an eligible team and part of the DATA Wave as long as you are at least 2 members.

Will there be workshops?

Yes, in the form of Eskwelabs' signature learning sprint style training sessions. There are three in total that will conducted three hours each in Zoom by an Eskwelabs instructor.

What are the submission dates to remember?

July 15 for the initial submission, and August 25 for the final submission.

What should I do if I have technical issues during the hackathon?

We’ll provide technical support throughout the event, so you can focus on your project and collaboration time.

Will there be mentors to guide us during the hackathon?

Yes, mentors from BPI, Eskwelabs, and partner organizations will be available to provide guidance and support.

How will the winners be selected?

The top teams will be chosen from the pool of final video submissions, their paper, and slide presentation. Then, at the Summit, after the top teams have presented, winners will be chosen based on the tabulation of scores by a panel of judges from BPI, Eskwelabs, and partner organizations.

Communication FAQs

How do I know if I’ve been selected to participate in the summit?

Selected Summit participants will be notified via email with further instructions.

What happens after the summit?

You will be getting your cash prize disbursement on the date/date range mentioned in the post-summit email.

Can I attend the summit even if I don’t compete in the hackathon?

The summit will be exclusive via invite. Official invites will be sent out by Eskwelabs directly, so always check your emails.

How do I stay updated on event details?
